Innovate Finance statement on new post-study work visa

Innovate Finance CEO Charlotte Crosswell releases a statement regarding the new post-study work visa announcement

Innovate Finance welcomes the news that Government has decided to reverse the earlier curb on post-study work visas, meaning international students can now remain in the UK for two years after finishing their studies.

Charlotte Crosswell, CEO, Innovate Finance said: We have worked tirelessly with our members and campaigned alongside other trade bodies to support this change, raising it as key to the FinTech sector’s continued success in recent discussions with Government ministers and officials.

“We believe it makes complete sense for the UK to be able to retain the best talent, especially talent that has already invested time and effort in studying here with the intention of benefiting UK firms with their skills.  This decision will allow FinTech companies to draw upon a much wider pool of skills, enabling them to grow faster, and building momentum for further innovation in financial services.”

“We are delighted that the Government has recognised the efforts of Innovate Finance, members and other industry associations on this and the need to return to the two year policy in order for FinTech to continue its growth.”
