Anju Patwardhan

Managing Director, CreditEase Fintech Fund & Fund of Funds

Anju Patwardhan is Managing Director at CreditEase Fintech Investment Fund (CEFIF) of USD 1 billion. The Fund has invested in close to 60 companies globally since its inception in 2016. CreditEase, established in 2006, is a leading Fintech company in China, specializing in Wealth Management, Asset Management, and Marketplace Lending.

Prior to joining CreditEase, Anju worked in banking for over two decades with Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in global and regional leadership roles. She has held senior positions including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Digital Banking Head, and Global Chief Innovation Officer. She was a member of SCB’s global executive leadership team, member of its Global Technology & Operations Management Group, and member of the Global Risk Management Group.

Anju is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) steering committee on Disruptive Innovation in Financial Services and a member of WEF Global Council on Blockchain. She is an experienced board member and serves on boards of banks, fintech companies, and non-profit entities.

Anju has been a Fulbright Fellow and Visiting Scholar from ASEAN at Stanford University (2016), Fellow at Stanford’s Distinguished Careers Institute (2017 and 2018), Distinguished Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Banking and Finance (Risk Management), Innovation Fellow at National University of Singapore, and Fintech Industry expert at UC Berkeley (SCET). She was also on the advisory board of Government of Estonia’s e-Residency program. She also serves as FinTech Faculty at Singularity University and a global Goodwill Ambassador for Innovate Finance UK.

She is a globally recognized and awarded Fintech thought leader and influencer and has published reports in this area jointly with the IFC and Stanford University (GSB). She was ranked number 1 globally by Bank Innovation in its 2017 list of “44 Innovators to Watch”. She has spoken on fintech and financial inclusion at the WEF, G20 SME Finance Forum, World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings, Asian Development Bank, Milken Global Conference, SF Federal Reserve, televised discussions on Channel News Asia in Singapore and
China’s CCTV, and at other global events.

She is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Management. She also holds further professional qualifications in board directorship, risk management, and art appreciation.
