Donna Parisi

Derivatives Partner – Global Head of Financial Services and FinTech, Shearman & Sterling LLP

With over 20 years of experience, Donna Parisi Global Head of Financial Services and FinTech at Shearman & Sterling has built a reputation for delivering innovative ideas and solutions to financial institutions, FinTechs and other market participants. Donna has broad and deep knowledge of financial institutions, evolving regulatory requirements and the business opportunities and challenges of her clients. As the financial services sector faces disruption by both new non-financial institution players and emerging technology, she has remained at the forefront of industry developments by supporting both the burgeoning FinTech community and her financial services clients.

Donna is the driving force spearheading the firm’s FinTech Foundry program, which supports the FinTech-related activities of the firm’s clients and the wider global FinTech ecosystem including financial institutions, FinTech start-ups, accelerators and incubators, venture capital and private equity investors, and policymakers. This program provides opportunities to connect, share insights and provide legal advice to the innovators shaping the future of financial services.

On a day to day basis, Donna advises clients on the full range of derivatives, structured products, securitization, capital markets and commodities matters. In particular, she helps clients develop and structure new financial products and has extensive experience in the negotiation and documentation of OTC derivative transactions across all asset classes.

In addition to FinTech and Financial Services, Donna also leads Shearman Women, the firm’s women’s initiative. Donna has long had a genuine passion for advancing career opportunities for women and received the “Inspiring Role Model in Promoting Gender Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession” award at the Chambers Women in Law Awards in June 2018. She is a prominent thought leader and frequently recognized as a leader in her field by industry commentators and the press. Most recently, she was included in Innovate Finance’s Women in FinTech Powerlist 2018 in the “Professional and Financial Services” category.
