Co-CEO & Co-Founder, LOQBOX
The size and scale of the financial exclusion problem first came to Gregor’s attention during the 17 years he spent providing audit and advisory services to financial institutions with KPMG in emerging markets. It was in Brazil in the late 1990s that he saw first hand the difficulties that being financially excluded can create. This was a theme that followed him through the years he spent in Thailand, Kazakhstan and Russia.
For the final five years before Gregor left KPMG to set up as an angel investor, he was the CFO of KPMG in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, a business with a turnover of $350 million that spans 7 countries, 19 offices and then had 4,000 people working in it. He also ran KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia for much of that time.
Since returning to the UK, Gregor angel-invested in Credit Improver, an earlier business set up by his LOQBOX co-founder, Tom Eyre, before they created LOQBOX. He has also been a non-executive director of a listed retailer. Gregor began his career in Scotland and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
