Financial Innovation Lead, World Economic Forum
R. Jesse McWaters leads the World Economic Forums exploration of financial technology and innovation. His work focuses on bringing together financial services executives, fintech players, and global regulators to understand how emerging technologies and innovative new entrants are transforming the competitive dynamics of the global financial ecosystem. He is the lead author of the World Economic Forums groundbreaking “Future of Financial Services” series of reports which have established an influential taxonomy of fintech and explored the potential impacts of blockchain (“The Future of Financial Infrastructure”), digital identity (“Blueprint for Digital Identity”) and most recently AI (“The New Physics of Financial Services”) on the financial system.
Jesse is a frequent media commentator on fintech, having been featured on CNBC’s Closing Bell, and quoted in the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired and Bloomberg. His work has been cited by an array of global policy makers including the Bank of England, The Financial Stability Board, and the US Department of commerce. He has also has been asked to present his findings to the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, The Federal Reserve Board, The Peoples Bank of China, The European Parliament, and the IMF, as well as numerous leading financial institutions.
Prior to his current role, Jesse worked as a financial services consultant with Deloitte and served as Director of Insights for Deloitte’s Future of Canada Institute, an organization dedicated to enhancing Canada’s productivity, competitiveness and innovative capabilities.
