Michelle Seng Ah Lee is a Senior Manager and AI Ethics Lead in the Risk Analytics team at Deloitte UK. She leads the UK offerings to advise clients on how to manage and mitigate new risks and ethical considerations introduced by AI technology. She is also pioneering the development of a suite of Deloitte products for AI risks, including Model Guardian (fairness and bias), Lucid (explainability), and RobustAI (testing). Case studies include credit risk evaluation, insurance pricing, and fraud detection.
Michelle is at the intersection of industry and academia on the topic of AI ethics, as she is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science & Technology at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on algorithmic fairness in machine learning. She has published award-winning papers on this topic and is a frequent conference speaker. Michelle guest lectures at Imperial College on applications of machine learning in credit risk evaluation. In her free time, she volunteers as a pro bono data scientist with DataKind where she was a former UK Chapter Lead and now sits on their Ethics Committee. Michelle holds her Master’s from Oxford Internet Institute (University of Oxford) and her Bachelor’s from Stanford University.
