Pawel Szaja

Capital Markets Partner, Shearman & Sterling

Pawel Szaja is a partner in the Capital Markets practice based in the London office. He is also a member of the firm’s FinTech Foundry program. 

Pawel has experience advising FinTech firms on a number of fundraising and capital markets matters. He specializes in financing alternatives at all stages of the company – from startup through to IPO – and also advises on regulatory considerations for token offerings. He has also participated on panels covering a range of topics in the FinTech space, including those related to the regulatory landscape, digital assets and regulatory sandboxes, and he participated in the firm’s session with Copenhagen FinTech Lab for Danish FinTech companies that are considering entering the U.K. market. 

He advises issuers and underwriters in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on equity and debt capital markets and M&A transactions as well as securities law, corporate governance and ongoing reporting matters. His practice covers several areas of international corporate finance and capital markets transactions, including SEC-registered equity and debt offerings, IPOs, recapitalisations and privatisations, different types of debt offerings, including project bonds and regulatory capital, as well as public and private M&A transactions.
