What is it about IFGS that brings you back every year? OR What is it about IFGS that has brought you to the event this year?
IFGS represents the world’s most effective gathering of financial technology professionals. It’s the principal event of the year to meet with relevant, decision-makers in the industry – and the curation of content and speakers ensures that you will leave the event having learnt new insights and having made valuable connections.
What is the biggest change you have seen in the FinTech industry over the past 12 months?
A maturity of the market has allowed robust, efficient technologies to spread far and wide. FinTech is now a household product thanks to the support of the regulator, our creative entrepreneurs and robust banking infrastructure. People are investing, banking, insuring and borrowing using nothing but FinTech products – this is a marked change from the landscape last year.
What do you believe to be the most vital implication of Brexit on UK Fintech?
Understanding the implications Brexit will have on immigration is key not only to Fintech, but to all our industries. Ensuring that smart, talented people – and entrepreneurs – have smooth access into this country, and the ability to build their businesses, will ensure that we remain a world-leader in Fintech.
What are your go-to reads for industry updates and insights?
Consuming news from a wide variety of sources, including WSJ, the FT, Forbes and Reuters ensures I get a rounded understanding of the industry. Crucially, spending time with the 200 companies based at Level39 gives me incredible insight into what’s happening at the forefront of Fintech.
