What is it about IFGS that brings you back every year? OR What is it about IFGS that has brought you to the event this year?
I have been speaking at an attending IFGS since the beginning. It always has a good mix of the current FinTech players and decision makers on the agenda and roaming the Guildhall. Every year I bump into someone I need to or would like to speak to just heading up and down the stairs or having a snack in the exhibition hall.
What is the biggest change you have seen in the FinTech industry over the past 12 months?
UK is the global capital of FinTech. I have seen a maturity in the FinTech space. This industry is now filled with experienced, mature and growing companies. It is sophisticated world filled with smart, driven and talented people who want to make banking better, full stop. This isn’t kindergarten, this is FinTech.
What do you believe to be the most vital implication of Brexit on UK Fintech?
Talent. The biggest complaint I have heard from FinTech firms in the past 18 month is the depletion of the talent pipeline. London became such a powerhouse because it attracted the best from around the world – it would break my heart if Brexit destroyed that.
