Head of Member Policy Engagement, Innovate Finance
Q. Tell everyone a little bit about yourself and your role at Innovate Finance
A. I sit in both the policy and membership teams, where I mostly work with our bigger, more established FinTech members. Typically I work with these companies to develop the Innovate Finance position on a range of regulatory and policy areas affecting FinTechs, and involving them in our various cross-sector programmes and events.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time away from work?
A. Usually something sport-related - in summer it's a lot of cricket (playing and watching), in winter I'm trying badminton, but with limited success. I'm a history buff so I'm often working my way through some kind of tome on anything from ancient Greece to American politics.
Q. What are some of your favourite things about working in FinTech?
A. It is really exciting to see how many FinTech companies with brilliant ideas there are. The entrepreneurial spirit shown by so many people working in the sector is really impressive. FinTech is still young but it's achieved a lot already and seems destined to make lasting changes to the way we interact with money and finance.
Q. You can invite any 3 people to your dinner party. Who do you choose and why?
- Michael Holding - one of the all time great cricketers and a man who I'm sure has plenty of good anecdotes.
- Dame Judi Dench - so much to tell from a long and distinguished acting career, and she was great as M in the Bond series!
- Mick Jagger - I'm a huge fan of the Rolling Stones, I could hope for a few renditions from Mick. (He also likes cricket!)
