Innovate Finance announce new series to be produced by BBC StoryWorks

Launching in 2023, the series will focus on exploring financial inclusion, wellness and net zero.

London, 13 July 2022 - Innovate Finance today is announcing its second series to be produced for content partners by BBC StoryWorks, the BBC’s award-winning branded content division.

In April 2020, Innovate Finance launched the landmark Innovation in Finance series. Through 33 short films shot on five continents, and with the participation of leading names in finance and FinTech, Innovate Finance examined how technology has transformed how people across the world interact with money. A subsequent longer-form piece, Crisis to Catalyst, explored this topic further in the context of the public health and social justice crises of that year.

Innovate Finance was delighted with the response to the first series. It informed, engaged and entertained a wide audience, earning more than 4 million video views, 6 million social media engagements and nearly 200,000 unique website visits, driven by a digital campaign comprising 135 million impressions on globally. The campaign also sparked conversation among global FinTech thought leaders and won Best Digital Marketing Campaign at the 2021 Association Excellence Awards.

As the key challenges of the coming decade become clearer, it is an important time to reaffirm the ways in which the fintech sector rises to them.

The new digital series which will launch in 2023 will highlight purpose-driven innovation from within the FinTech community, telling the personal stories of the people behind the tech and those benefiting the most. It will be split into three chapters, corresponding to the following challenges:

  1. Financial Inclusion: How do we make sure nobody is left behind as finance and FinTech become indistinguishable?
  2. Financial Wellness: How do we improve mental and physical health by improving financial health?
  3. FinTech for Net-Zero: How does innovation in the financial sector help to facilitate, finance and empower climate-positive solutions?

The new series will be hosted on a dedicated microsite, providing an immersive experience for browsers and an opportunity for more in-depth coverage spanning films, articles, infographics and supporting content. Once again, a multi-platform campaign will drive relevant audience groups from among’s 130 million monthly browsers, as well as reaching ecosystem audiences through Innovate Finance and its network.

If you are keen to get involved or find out more please email by 29th July.

Janine Hirt, CEO of Innovate Finance said:

"We’re very excited to work with BBC StoryWorks on this second series. The FinTech sector is at the heart of providing better financial solutions to consumers and businesses, and we’re looking forward to doing a deep dive into the themes of  inclusion, wellness and net-zero. Shining a light on these topics in collaboration with the BBC gives us the chance to showcase the positive impact of FinTech on broader society. We’re also looking forward to bringing members into the discussions on the challenges FinTech is facing as a sector”.
