Innovate Finance release statement on new partnership between the UK government and Bloomberg L.P. to improve reporting on gender equality in the workplace
We welcome the newly launched partnership between the UK government and Bloomberg L.P. to improve reporting on gender equality in the workplace. As the UK membership body for FinTech, developing a more inclusive and fair environment is at the heart of our commitment to supporting a more representative and sustainable financial services sector in the UK and abroad. We hope today’s commitment to greater transparency across industry, and the inclusion of the six data points from the UK Government’s gender pay gap metrics into the global reporting framework of the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), serves to shine a spotlight on the efforts being made by organisations and government.
The UK is stepping up to ensure collaboration between industry and government delivers the practical and deliverable equality programmes needed to create real change. Many of our members, and the UK’s biggest companies, have demonstrated their support for greater gender parity. Like over 270 other businesses, Innovate Finance has pledged our commitment to the UK HMT Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter, which covers over 760,000 financial services employees in the UK. Finally, our own Diversity programme, which includes our Women in Fintech Initiative, will also continue to break new ground and highlight more female pioneers while showcasing the need for greater industry collaboration. We hope today’s announcement only emboldens more partnerships and embraces greater cross sector support.
