Christopher Woolard CBE
Christopher Woolard CBE is a Partner at EY. He leads Fintech for EY in the UK, EMEIA financial services regulation and chairs the EY Global Regulatory Network. Chris had a 25 year career in UK public service before joining EY in April 2021.
He previously served as interim Chief Executive of the Financial Conduct Authority in 2020, and also as Executive Director of Strategy and Competition and a member of the FCA’s board. He founded FCA’s ‘Project Innovate,’ designed to encourage innovation in the financial services market, the FCA regulatory Sandbox and originated both the UK Digital Sandbox and the Global Financial Innovation Network, bringing together over 40 countries.
Chris was also a member of the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Committee and the Financial Policy Committee. He was the first chair of IOSCO’s Fintech Forum and a member of the FSB’s strategic risk committee.
Before joining the FCA, Chris held senior roles at Ofcom, the BBC and in the UK Civil Service. Chris was awarded a CBE by HM the Queen in 2021 for services to financial regulation and fintech. He is also a freeman of the City of London.
