Diana Avila is Global Head of Banking at TransferWise and part of the leadership team, leading the international expansion of the company.

She is responsible for building and leading the global team that is making TransferWise’s services available in more jurisdictions for their growing 6 million customers. The Banking and Expansion team works with over 50 global financial partners to enable customers to use TransferWise around the world. This team has contributed to TransferWise securing financial licences in 9 jurisdictions around the world, and are continuously working on further expansions.

When she first joined TransferWise in 2015, Diana was responsible for taking on the challenge of expanding TransferWise’s operations to Latin America through partnerships with financial institutions and securing new regulatory licences. Bringing transparency and a cheaper, faster and better solution for people to transfer money to and from that region requires working closely with local financial institutions and local regulators.

Diana is passionate about financial inclusion and innovation towards a better and more efficient financial system. Prior to TransferWise, she was working as a Financial Regulatory Lawyer in Colombia, enabling foreign financial institutions to operate in the local market.
