Peter is the Director of International & National Initiatives at Innovate Finance, the industry body representing the UK FinTech sector. Peter leads on developing Innovate Finance’s international and national initiatives, to support and promote UK FinTech, and the opportunities for our members to grow, by developing relationships with likeminded hubs across the UK and around the world. Peter also works alongside our Head of Government Affairs and Policy to ensure our international and national work reflects current political, public policy and regulatory priorities for the sector.
Q. Tell everyone a little bit about yourself and your role at Innovate Finance
A. As Director of International & National Initiatives, I lead on our work connecting to like-minded hubs and partners around the world and across the UK. As we come out of the pandemic, there is a real opportunity for UK FinTechs to take advantage of the global connections we have across our ecosystem, and I want to ensure they get to do just that.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time away from work?
A. Away from FinTech, I can be found taking long hikes around London and Kent, stopping at the occasional tap room for a pint, or podcasting on the latest album releases over CTTB Music Podcast.
Q. What are some of your favourite things about working in FinTech?
A. I get to talk to the most interesting and innovative people from around the world, and it's an absolute privilege to be at the cross-roads for such an important industry. Plus I get to hear about some pretty cool stuff before it trends.
Q. You can invite any 3 people to your dinner party. Who do you choose and why?
A. James Bond movie producer Barbara Broccoli, Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant, and travel vlogger & YouTuber Bald and Bankrupt. Imagine we'd end up discussing music, film, and the history of the Soviet Union, and that would suit me just fine!
